Not all construction projects in China turn into ghost towns: some turn into ghost amusement parks.

Wonderland was supposed to be a fantastic amusement park just 45 minutes outside of Beijing, on the way to the Great Wall. Judging from the partially built castle, it was clearly meant to resemble Disney.

Construction of Wonderland, which was supposed to be the largest amusement park in Asia, halted over a decade ago because of land disputes and insufficient funds. Now it's an abandoned skeleton overrun by wild dogs

The locals told Reuters' David Gray that the developers ran out of money, and they probably won't ever come back now.

Locals have begun slowly migrating into the abandoned buildings and planting crops in the vast fields surrounding Wonderland.

Now take a tour of the eerie park (via io9).
