Coming out of the mid-season respite known as NBA All-Star Weekend, Scott Skiles has some non-basketball related business to attend to: the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks is selling his City of Mequon, Wisconsin home. Skiles, whose team has been plagued by injuries this season and enters the break with a record of 13-20, recently listed his suburban home – a brick and stone Tudor estate built in 1997 – and is asking $1.475 million for the property.
Located roughly 20 minutes south north of the Bradley Center, Skiles’ home offers nearly 4,750-square-feet of living space spread over three floors, with limestone, marble and granite finishes, cherry wood floors and leaded glass windows found throughout. It features four bedrooms and six bathrooms, along with such amenities as four fireplaces, media room and a game room with a full wet bar. A sizeable master suite includes not one, but three walk-in closets, spa-like bathroom and a private gym room. The rear of nearly three-quarter-acre property, which backs up against the Mequon Nature Preserve, includes a well-manicured backyard with a pair of patio areas
A standout point guard at Michigan State in the mid 1980’s, Skiles was picked by Milwaukee in the first round of the 1986 draft. He would go on to play ten years in the NBA with the Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic, Washington Bullets and Philadelphia 76ers. Following his playing days, Skiles transitioned into coaching, first as an assistant with the Phoenix Suns and later as the team’s head coach from 1999-2002, followed by a stint as head coach of the Chicago Bulls from 2003-2007. He rejoined the Bucks franchise as in 2008 and has piloted the team to one playoff appearance (2009-10) during his tenure as Milwaukee’s head coach.
