Former Atlanta Braves Ace Greg Maddux Lists Las Vegas Home (PHOTOS)
With former Atlanta Braves cohorts and bullpen pals Tom Glavine and John Smoltz already playing the real estate game, you kind of knew that Greg Maddux wouldn’t be far behind. Indeed, not to be outdone by his fellow aces, “Mad Dog” has put his Las Vegas, NV home on the market, listing the golf course property for $2.25 million.
While Maddux’s spread is not quite as big as Smoltzy’s, the two properties do have a few similarities. Well, maybe one similarity: an affinity for standalone merry-go-round statues. Surprisingly, Glavine is behind the times in terms of the latest pony décor trends, but he makes up for it with his very own backyard diamond and this really cool old-timey baseball-themed bedroom. But back to Maddux, whose Vegas home offers a sizable 8,400-square-foot floor plan with a total of five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
Maddux starts things off in the grand foyer with marble-lined floors and an elaborate spiral staircase. Moving further into the home, there are a number of various living room areas, including a sunken area and a formal sitting room off the front entry. A chef’s kitchen, lined in red granite, features a sizeable center island and looks out onto a garden, while the family room sports an impressive wet bar and a pool table. Head upstairs to find the Maddux master suite, which comes complete with walk-in closets, a built-in entertainment center and a private balcony. And the party doesn’t stop there, as Maddux’s backyard takes on an oasis theme with a pool and waterfall, tropical pond and walkway combo, and a sweet outdoor kitchen setup.
The only pitcher in MLB history to record at least 15 victories in17 consecutive seasons, Maddux finished his big league career with a record of 355-227 and an ERA of 3.16, while playing for the Chicago Cubs, Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres. A living clinic when it came to pitching control, Maddux was also superb with the glove, racking up at total of 18 Gold Glove Awards to go along with four CY Young Awards and 8 All-Star appearances. He is currently employed by the Texas Rangers, where his brother Mike holds the role of pitching coach.
The listing is presented by Debra Wallace.
