Out for the year due to an elbow injury, MLB pitcher Ryan Madson has plenty of time to do non-baseball related things, including putting his Ladera Ranch, CA home up for sale. Madson, a Riverside County native who starred at Moreno Valley, CA‘s Valley View High School, is asking $2.199 million for the Covenant Hills estate, which is roughly the equivalent of one quarter of the $8.5 million contract he inked with the Cincinnati Reds this past offseason.
Built in 2008, Madson’s custom home offers 6,750-square-feet, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The main floor of the house boasts a billiards room with full bar and wine cellar, office, guest suite, and a chef’s kitchen complete with a $40,000 La Cornue range stove and other high-end appliances. Found on the second story is the master suite that has a sizeable walk-in closet that sports a marble-topped island and refrigerator. Head to the rear of the property and one will find an outdoor patio area that features a solar-heated pool and spa, and an outdoor living room with a fireplace.
Drafted in the 9th round of the 1998 MLB Draft by Philadelphia, Madson broke into the big leagues with the Phillies in 2004. He would spend a total of eight seasons with the team, working mainly out of the pen as the “Bridge to Lidge,” and was part of the Phillies’ 2008 World Series ball club. Following the 20011 season, Madson inked a one-year deal with the Reds, but was eventually shelved for the season after suffering an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery.
