Fresh off of listing his quaint Craftsman-style cottage, actor Simon Helberg has upgraded his living accommodations in a big way with the purchase of Hollywood bad boy Charlie Sheen’s Mediterranean mini-mansion. Known for his role as ultra-nerd aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz on the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory, Helberg is reportedly shelling out $2.9 million for the Los Angeles, California property, located just south of the Griffith Observatory and Mount Hollywood in the prominent Los Feliz neighborhood.
The sale represents somewhat of a victory for Sheen. The consistently unpredictable, unemployed winner purchased the estate with then-wife Brooke Mueller in 2007 for $2.575 million, and has had the house on the market since mid-2009.
Built in 1927, the newly-minted Helberg manor measures in at just under 4,200-square-feet and features a restored interior with Bouquet Canyon stone flooring, capacious living room with trestle-style vaulted ceilings, formal dining room and a generous master suite. The exterior of the gated property blends elements of Mediterranean and Southwestern design with an ocotillo-tiled courtyard and walkways that lead to an oversized backyard and pool.
