Frankie Muniz House !!! Frankie Muniz Home !!! Arcadia home that belongs to Malcolm in the Middle star, Frankie Muniz

Since a lot of you have been asking which Arcadia home now belongs to Malcolm in the Middle star, Frankie Muniz, I thought I’d post the information and photos from the MLS listing.

Front of the Arcadia Property from the street

This classic contemporary house was designed and built by the husband and wife team of K&I Homes. It is classic in the sense that it is a timeless design that will always be looked at as modern or contemporary, even decades from now. Inspired by the Bauhaus and International style modernist movement from the early to mid-20th century, the design is characterized by straight edges and smooth rectilinear forms in a balanced composition that expresses the volume of open interior spaces.

The house has a demanding but sophisticated street presence. The green grass field provides a contrasting setting for the house from the street.

The walkway leading up to the front door is a series of large exposed aggregate concrete squares, with purple plum trees in large concrete planters on one side, and a row of Japanese Privets on the other – screening the full-sized badminton/volleyball court on the west side. Another row of Japanese Privets screens the parking and a full-regulation sized ½ basketball court on the east side of the front yard.

A 24 foot wide wall of tall glass sliding doors opens up from the living room to a large sunken patio in the front. The patio features a circular fire pit and a 20+ foot long water feature with smooth white pebbles, and sandblasted limestone that also provides privacy and screens the patio from street view.

The 2-story living and dining room is the focal point of this home. Located in the middle of the ground floor, everything either opens or looks on to this impressive space with real or implied separation of adjacent spaces.

The entry looks into the living room, but is separated by a partial wall with a caesarstone clad open flame linear gas fireplace. The kitchen area is also open to the living room, but visually separated by the appliance wall. The loft and office area overlooks the living room from the floor above through a continuous glass railing.

The windows of the house are custom-made Jeld-Wen wooden windows with high-performance Low-E glass, stained on the inside and metal-clad on the exterior. The 11-foot high sliding glass doors open to the entire room to the front patio and the long linear water feature at the front of the house.

The wood flooring is Sable-colored Maple, with wooden baseboards to match the custom millwork.

Modern leather furniture from Copenhagen, and back painted plexiglass art from the Phoenix Art Group complete the picture.

The kitchen design follows the same geometric principles of the main house. The 12-foot long kitchen island, as well as the wall and soffit that wrap the refrigerator and cabinets, actually mimic the roof line and massing of the main house exterior.

The kitchen cabinets, like all of the cabinets in the home, were custom made in Italy by Maistri with gray oak veneer. The simplicity and style features an integrated groove pull handle on the base units, which along with the strong shapes, creates a vigorous rhythm throughout.

The countertops and window sills are made with Caesarstone throughout the entire house. The backsplash features olive green mosaic marble and wood paneling.

The flooring, like all other tile areas of the home, is Batigue Blue Limestone – quarried to order in Italy and honed finished and sealed.

The top of the line appliance package includes:

  • 48” side by side Sub Zero Refrigerator
  • Miele Induction Range and Hood
  • 2 Miele Dishwashers
  • 2 Miele Convection Ovens
  • 2 Miele Speed Ovens (Convection/Microwave combination)
  • Built-in and plumbed Miele Coffee Maker

The lighting design for the house includes over 200 recessed Halogen lights, suspension lights with resin-encapsulated fabric, and indirect accent lighting. All of the lighting is controlled by radio frequency typr dimmers with unlimited adjustment and synchronizing abilities.

The entire 1800 square foot second floor is the master retreat, including a loft and office area.
