Yao Ming moved back to Shanghai following his retirement from professional basketball in 2011, so it comes as little surprise to learn that the former NBA star is selling his Houston, TX home. Ming, a former No.1 overall pick who spent his entire career with the Houston Rockets, has put the Hunters Creek Village estate on the market for $3.99 million.
At 7-foot-6 and 310-pounds, Ming obviously needed a home with plenty of room to move and the suburban property certainly fit the requirements with nearly 12,000 square feet of living space, six bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. A two-level foyer lined in marble starts things off in Casa de Yao and the luxe amenities don’t stop there.
Head to Yao’s formal dining room and you will bear witness to towering three-story windows and a magnificent chandelier. Further along is a wood-clad library complete with a wet bar and fireplace, while a second wet bar and wine room can be found just off the main entryway. Upstairs, the master suite features its own fireplace, along with a master both complete with a Yao-sized whirlpool spa set in marble. Rounding out Yao’s soon-to-be-former Houston digs is a massive backyard pool with a rock waterfall and obligatory mini-hoop.
