Former Phoenix Suns star Amar’e Stoudemire might be gathering nuts for the long winter ahead.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal’s Leads section, Stoudemire sold two of his Phoenix residential properties recently, perhaps opting for some liquid assets in case the NBA lockout continues for the rest of the season. Then again, maybe he wants to free up some cash to spend on new digs in New York where he plays for the Knicks.

In the first sale, Stoudemire sold his 7,500-square-foot house at 79 Biltmore Estates for $2.75 million. According to previously published reports, Stoudemire paid $4.75 million for the mansion in 2005. The buyer isGerald W. Fletcher.

Stoudemire also sold his condo just a few blocks to the south, unit 802 at Esplanade Place, for $1.3 million. According to the same previously published reports, Stoudemire paid $1.775 million for that property in the summer of 2006. The buyer is JVK Holdings LLC.

Though it appears Stoudemire suffered some significant losses by selling now, it’s probably small change given that he signed a five-year contract with the Knicks worth $99.7 million.
