He might not be leaving New York for good, but Matthew Modine is saying goodbye to his duplex in Chelsea. The veteran actor, who recently appeared in the summer blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises and will play John Sculley in the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic Jobs, has listed the Gallery District garden loft for $2.29 million.
Located just steps away from The High Line, the tastefully styled 1,668-square-foot residence boasts 17-foot vaulted ceilings, Nordic Ash hardwood floors and a host of other luxe finishes. Separate living room and dining room areas can be found on the upper level, along with a master suite that features a master bath lined in imported Porcelanosa ceramic tiles.
A chef’s kitchen has been equally styled and updated, and now includes limestone floors and an all-glass Italian kitchen by Schiffini. The loft’s lower level includes an ample family room area that has a half bath and laundry area, while a door off to the side leads to a private outdoor patio – a luxury “coveted by all NYer’s.”
Perhaps best known for his role as ‘Private Joker’ in Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket, Modine’s filmography includes roles in such notable feature films as Vision Quest, Pacific Heights, and Bye Bye Love. The 53-year-old is also no stranger to television, having had various parts on Weeds, Law & Order: SVU and The West Wing.
