Jason Kidd plays for the NBA champion Dallas Mavericks, but that doesn’t mean he stopped loving the East Coast — home of his former team, the New Jersey Nets.
The point guard just signed a contract to buy a sprawling Hamptons mansion at 100 Flying Point Road in Southampton. This is the same home that Jennifer Lopez recently checked out.
The 5,500-square-foot, six-bedroom, six-bathroom home is “a bike ride” away from the ocean, according to the listing, and was on the market for $5.975 million. There’s also a 2,300-square-foot, finished basement that includes a staff suite.
The property, just under 2 acres, includes a pool, pool house, tennis court and carriage house that can be used as a two-car garage with space above for a gym, office or playroom.
Corcoran Group listing brokers Susan and Matthew Breitenbach declined to comment.
It looks like Jason Kidd has been busy shopping for a Hamptons pad during the NBA lockout. According to the New York Post, the Dallas Mavericks' point guard is in contract to purchase this 6-bedroom in Water Mill. The house was most recently listed at $5.975M, so we can assume the deal is around (but not above) that amount.
And what is the former Net getting for almost $6M? A 5,500 sq. ft. home set on almost two south-of-the-highway acres that the listing describes as, "a perfect hybrid of old world class with a hot new world style." The grounds include a heated gunite pool (like you didn't know that), an all-weather tennis court, a pool house and a carriage house (see: fancy garage). We would expect that he'll be converting that tennis court into a basketball one in short order.
Rumor has it that Lebron James was also looking at this house, but gave up during the last quarter and couldn't close the deal.
